Nothing really new to add, but a thought.

When I published my last post, I neglected to mention that the Islamic future of Britain does not impact the UK alone. It will affect the whole of Europe, Germany most of all. Germany has said it will  take in 800,000 migrants.

That is one tenth of their population. Fair enough that Germany is a larger country to house them and the  German industrial base needs more manpower.

But I don't think Mrs Merkel has fully thought out the long term repercussions of allowing such a large influx of Islamic immigrants. The surge of Islamic immigrants will  escalate the growth of the Islamic population curve and Germany will now increasingly become Islam orientated, with a dedicated infrastructure to the increasing Muslim population. And give the far right a boost in popularity as the indigenous Germans become frightened by the overwhelming flood of Muslims living and working in their neighbourhoods.

And the German constitution will work against the native Germans. They have leaned back so much to avoid being viewed as Nazis, they have effectively left themselves defenseless against this flood of humanity.

It will be interesting to see when  the United States of America and Israel will notice the long term consequences of the Islamic migrancy into Europe and start to issue statements starting with "We view with alarm..."

As I said before, the large scale emigration of an entire people has historic precedence and while happening once again, doesn't mean I have to like it. No doubt it will happen again. Maybe the next great emigration will be to Mars...

Long time no updates.

Apologies.

My old laptop broke down, got a replacement until that broke and now on a third, for a couple of years. All that time and I haven't updated...

Well, it was a long time between my first laptop breaking and getting a replacement...

Writing, still trying. Nearing a finish on my first full length book, a sci-fi  story tentatively titled  The  Hammer  of  God.  As I said, nearly finished with just the climax and one or two scenes to include, then a re-read to see how it flows.  Probably add little bits  here and there.

Then find a reliable publisher, I don't want to self publish.

Real life news. This migrant migration just won't finish, will it?

Regardless of  how many migrants will reach England, having reached this conclusion years ago, but I think in two hundred or two hundred and fifty years, England will be an Islamic country complete with Sharia Law. The terrorism of the Islamic State or the Taliban and other groups is just a distraction,  the main problem, as I see it, is that Muslim families are larger than indigenous English families so that the Muslim population will rise faster than the Anglo-Saxon 'Christians' which many people think of as the main ethnic population of England.

I'm not so sure. Church going is on the decline and so, undoubtedly, is reading the Bible every day. Materialism is at the heart of most English families these days, not spiritualism, so no wonder Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world.

England becoming 'Britistan' in a couple of centuries makes me sad, but I can't see how it can be stopped.

Historically speaking, this island seems to change nationalities fairly regularly.

The first natives of Britain were the Beaker people,  all we know of them are from the clay beakers they left behind them, burning their dead on pyres. They were killed off/absorbed by the Celts. The Celtic British were conquered by the Romans, who introduced God knows how many bloodlines into the native Celtic population. Not just Roman blood, or Roman Auxiliaries from across the Roman Empire, but the servants and slaves Roman nobility brought to their British homes who mingled with the natives.

Once the Romans left, Gaelic tribes from Ireland started raiding and settling in Britain, particularly the Scotti settling  in the Pictish north. And famously, the Anglo-Saxon hordes invading what is now England.

The Danes conquered most of northern England, then came William the Bastard arrived with his Normans, descendants of Norwegian Vikings and the Franks who had settled in Gaul (now France) and he brought the Jews in with him.

That was the last successful invasion by armed force, But migration into Britain continued. I am not familiar with subsequent migration, but it includes French Huguenots fleeing persecution in France, Irish fleeing the Great Famine in Ireland.

Britain also attracted foreigners with our far flung Empire, not all from within the Empire. Chinese, Indians and Africans came.

Caribbeans were invited after World War II to do jobs white Britons didn't want to do. Case in point, my grandmother is in a care home and the vast majority of care workers are black.

So the current migration is nothing new, almost expected, perhaps. I suppose what is new is that the  Biblical scale of migration from Syria, Pakistan and Afghanistan and elsewhere in the Middle East is NOT an armed invasion like the Anglo-Saxon migration (fleeing Attila the Hun's descendants).

Wow, it has been a long time since my last blog.

No work at work and having to stay home on unpaid holiday. Which sucks.

My serialised sci-fi story isn't progressing as I had hoped. Took a long break from it to do other stuff, but got back on it. Writing part 6 now and it looks like I will have to add a part 7 to properly finish the story properly.

Having solar panels fitted but it's a pain, scaffolding has been up almost two weeks but the solar panels are still not up. Internal work was done last Wednesday, they arrived about 5pm and were finished at about 8. Been told the panels will be up tomorrow and commisioned  and all finished.

Right.

Tomorrow is supposed to be all wind and rain...

A  birthday party for my brother was on Sunday, whole family was there.

Didn't write last week, as it was too warm to do anything.

Did a little re-editting of several of my stories.

Last night, or  rather this morning, I had a dream. Several people in futuristic clothes were being hunted down in wat I thought was a hospital basement, where large pieces of equipment/whatever was being moved about on overhead rails, crushing those unfortunate to be in the way. They were also finding other victims. It was all very grimy and gory. I had the impression that the new people were a rescue team, but don't know who/what was bumping them off. I, of course, awoke before finding out what was going on.

I am still here, still trying to write.

Read Christopher Farnsworth's Blood Oath, which I liked a lot. The President's most secret operative in the most secret War on Horror - a vampire!

Been reading up on forums for George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice & Fire, the H.B.O.'s series of the first book, Game of Thrones. Can't watch it on Sky Atlantic or over the internet (really eats up my broadband allowance), so really looking forward to the dvd release, whenever it is.

Trying out a serialised science fiction series, slated for six parts and on part three now, structured as;
Part 1: Introduce the sacrificial lambs.
Part 2: Introduce the villains.
Part 3: Introduce the heroes/rescue remaining sacrificial lambs.
Part 4: Heroes mission.
Part 5: Villains' counter-attack.
Part 6: Climax.

Not quite shaping out as I thought it would, and taking longer than my original expectations (plot progression as opposed to actually writing it) but getting there. Trying for a 5k word count per chapter, slightly over part one, slightly below part two.

I will try to be more regular posting now, even if it's too say nothing.

Want to say something, but have nothing really to report. A new short story started, inspired by Greek  mythology, but not saying which one yet. I had kind of planned a series of shorts based on various Greek mythological creatures/beings/characters/Gods/Titans, but we'll see.

Did a re-edit of The Whitby Ripper, still on the wrong side of 5 thousand words...

I have been recovering from a stomach bug,  feeling  weak  and listless. Missed days of work, losing pay doing so and haven't really felt like writing. Done a little, but only a little.

Feeling better now, but still don't feel like writing. I am going to have to try, tho.

I am starting to really hate my work place and work 'mates', how I didn't kill anybody last week, only God knows...

Well, I got more time to write tomorrow, one day's unpaid holiday because not enough work is coming in at work. Which is more preferable than being laid off. The Boss is being good, that he doesn't want to lose his employees, but if not enough work is coming in, he can't pay our wages. We do have work coming in, but it hasn't been commited yet. So until the orders are processed...

The holidays are over and working again. Kind of. Not much work, so it's slow going.

The writing took a back burner for a couple of weeks. Christmas meant family, so I didn't get to write as much as I hoped for.

So not a lot to write about.

Christmas presents I got? The Casebook of Carnacki the Ghost Finder by W.H. Hodgson, which I recently finished reading, excellent. Got interested in Carnacki via William Meikle's Carnacki short stories.
Also got Varney the Vampire by James Malcolm Ryder, a huge A4 format paperback about 800 pages long, which I haven't started to read yet!

Finished a creature feature short and hoped to sell it to a publisher, but most publishers I looked  up wanted stories of less than 5000 words, and this one is about 5600 words long. I really tried to keep it less than 5000 words but the story wouldn't co-operate. I guess I could try to edit it, but then, it wouldn't be the story I want. Ah well, so be it.

Lots of snow recently, snowed in today, couldn't get to work, but didn't write much either. Won't get paid either. No holiday left, so I really must try for work tomorrow. Just hope I don't break my neck getting to the bus stop.

People moan about the roads, but I haven't heard anyone talk about the pavements, especially on old country lanes or housing estates, where loads of people have compacted the snow into ice and I am firm believer that these pavements are more dangerous than many roads.

Roads are there for people to travel, and in their accidents, they are usually in cars which nowadays are designed like safety cages. People on pavements can slip up with not even a safety net and break limbs and necks.

I heard that a friend of my mother's slipped up in Guildford and broke her arm in two places, and she was a younger woman.

I am depressing myself. Don't want to go tomorrow, but I can't afford another payless day.

Second time I wrote this, accidentally closing this tab!

I need to bring some discipline to my writing, I have got four- or five short stories in various stages of completion. A couple need a little effort to get them going whilst one seems to be writing itself. I need to concentrate on one at a time!

I see  BBC2 are showing a new dramatisation of Whistle And I'll Come To You, with John Hurt. Based on the M.R. James short story Whistle And I Will Come To You, My Lad. I got the old b&w version on dvd somewhere...

Not a real lot to say this week, progressed in one short story and found something I was looking for on the internet which I didn't know what it was called  for another story idea.

Also been thinking about the King Arthur legends, simply because of the series finale of Merlin on Saturday.  It's getting ridiculous that Arthur still doesn't know that Merlin is a sorceror.

I was thinking of what a modern day take on the legend would be like. Would a modern day King Arthur be a CEO of a mega-company? And his knights boardroom directors? Corporate espionage becomes open military warfare. Gives a new meaning to a hostile takeover. Perhaps Arthur would be the CEO and his knights are the corporate security troops.  Or maybe have the Arthur story set modern day or near future, post apocalyptic meltdown and Arthur fighting in a civil war, or give it a fantasy twist, aliens or genetically engineered  super soldiers.

I might be interested in watching or reading such a story, but I am not interested in writing it.  If ever I do write an Arthurian story, it would be the old armour plate type  medieval kind of setting.

And I know Star Wars was kind of based on it,  with Obi-wan being Merlin and Luke Arthur. The original, that is.

Feeling good at the moment with my first short story, Circus Macabre published. Working on two or three other ideas now.
